Getting Students to Prepare for Class
Nothing is worse than planning an in-class activity that goes poorly due to a lack of student preparation. Try these different strategies to better ensure students are learning class content before they come to class.

Instructional consultants are available to perform classroom observations for faculty who wish to analyze their classroom teaching behaviors or who are interested in getting a second opinion regarding their presentation skills or the strategies they use for encouraging classroom discussion and group work. Consultants also conduct observations or reviews of online courses.
Instructors who have requested an observation typically meet with a consultant prior to the classroom visit or online course review to clarify the goals of the observation and review course materials. Following the observation, the faculty member and the consultant target teaching improvement goals and select, design, and implement strategies to meet these objectives.
