Facilitating Small Group Discussion

When facilitated successfully, small groups can be valuable learning experiences. Small groups in the classroom allow students to interact in less intimidating environments where peer mentoring and instruction are taking place.

Bepko Professional Development Library

Bepko Professional Development LibraryThe Bepko Professional Development Library is available to all IUPUI faculty, staff, and students as a resource to enrich their professional development as instructors and researchers.  The Library is named in honor of Gerald L. Bepko, Chancellor of IUPUI from 1976 – 2003.  Dr. Bepko’s commitment to faculty development during his tenure is preserved in the building of this collection of resources.  The collection houses approximately 900 books and, with the financial support of IUPUI’s University Library, provides electronic access to some 40 higher education journals.

The Library is located in the IUPUI Center for Teaching and Learning within the University Library building, Room UL1125.  The collection is accessible during the hours that the Center is open, Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  To check out materials from the collection, users need a valid IUPUI JagTag or IUPUI University Library Borrower's card.  Check out of materials occurs at the University Library’s Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor of University Library.

Users seeking professional development literature may also want to explore the higher education resources within University Library’s collections and seek the services offered by the University Library Reference Desk.  Many of the electronic collections pointed to within this web guide, including electronic books, online indexes of journal articles, and online journal subscriptions, are made available via University Library.  Faculty, students, and staff who have an IUPUI network username and password should be able to access these electronic materials off campus.  Refer to the Library’s E-Resources FAQs to troubleshoot any off-campus access issues.  Finally, the Library’s Education Subject Resource Guide may lead to additional pertinent materials.
